A legend about the patron of Bakar town, St. Margareta

Margarita was a martyr of Antakya. Governor of Antakya wanted to marry her but she said she was already promised to Jesus Christ. They threw her to prison where she saw a devil in the form of a dragon. She made a sign of a cross on her chest and the dragon swollowed her. The cross started to grow fast, till it finally cut the beast into two peaces and  Margareta remained uninjured. The governor ordered that she be executed , but she became an assistant in maternity pain. She tramples the dragon by her feet or stands unharmed by his open jaws. She often holds the cross, bears a crown and a martyr's palm.
